AIDS Project Rhode Island
Creating positive solutions for more than 20 years.

Founded in 1985 by a small group of doctors, nurses and community activists, AIDS Project Rhode Island is the state’s first AIDS service organization. Our mission is to provide compassionate, non-judgmental and collaborative response to the needs of people infected, affected and at risk of HIV/AIDS.  This is accomplished through leadership in prevention, education, supportive services and advocacy. We are guided by principles that epitomize effective nonprofit management and client-centered outcomes.

Dine Out. Fight AIDS.

Thursday, April 24, 2008

Dining Out for Life has a simple concept.  On Thursday, April 24th, participating restaurants agree to donate 25% of their proceeds to AIDS Project Rhode Island.  In return, we encouraged our supporters to dine out at the participating restaurants.

Bryant University Students in Management 200 showcase their semester-long service learning projects.

On December 7, teams of Management 200 (Practices and Principles) students presented their semester-long service learning projects as part of Bryant’s Service Learning Fair.

All students in Management 200 are required to complete a service learning project, which gives them an opportunity to learn more about issues affecting the community and to use their management skills to help a nonprofit organization run more efficiently and effectively.

In the 11 MGT 200 sections, nearly 70 projects were completed. A winner from each class, as chosen by the students, had the opportunity to present their projects to a faculty panel who served as judges for the event.

Sharing second-place honors were teams that worked with AIDS Project Rhode Island (APRI) and the Audubon Society of Rhode Island respectively.

The APRI group included Alex Capobianco ’10 (Topsfield, MA), Lindsey Clifford ’11 (Hanover, MA), Genevieve Dolce ’10 (Leominster, MA), Kyle Metcalf ’10 (Monson, MA), Alyssa Quattropani ’09 (Colchester, CT), and Liz Schreiner ’10 (Holden, MA). They helped APRI raise nearly $48,000 and double the attendance at the organization’s annual Red Ribbon Dinner. The students also organized an AIDS Awareness Day at Bryant that included a speaker who lives with the disease.

“It is crucial to be involved in the community, and this project was a way for a lot of students to do that,” says Metcalf.
